Without integration… They’re Just Things

There is a lot of buzz around the Internet of Things (IoT) at present.

This comes as no surprise, as internet-enabled things can add a whole new dimension to our lives. But, unless we are able to get information to and from these innovative products, they are just — well — things.

This is where Mule comes in. Integration puts the “I” in IoT.

I have worked on several projects in recent times in which clients have asked me to integrate any number of items, including…

Smart Locks in Africa that can be controlled remotely from London.

Conference movement sensors that greet delegates by name on arrival.

Cafeteria Point of Sale systems that allow users to pay using their employee ID Badges — and deduct purchases from their salaries in accounting.

Smart Lifts and Printers that read employees ID badges to grant access.

Every one of these smart devices required an element of integration before they became truly useful.

Every one of these devices has a unique interface via which it needs to communicate.

… and the Mule was able to integrate every one of these devices seamlessly into my clients’ wider systems!
