Can Mule Do it?
I have been asked this question many times in any number of different contexts. The answer is almost always, ‘Yes it can!’
‘Should Mule do it?’ is a question I don’t hear quite as often. However, it is an important one.
For instance, what about the question of ETL and larger datasets running to a million or more records or in excess of 1GB of data? Technically, Mule is more than capable of handling these volumes.
However, should your company use valuable Virtual Cores and their accompanying license fees on a task that any ETL tool worth its salt could handle without breaking a sweat?
The answer to this question often calls for a more holistic view. For instance, what other technology options do you have? And might they deliver the solution more cheaply?
These are questions that your average Junior Developer might not be able to answer. You may need a Mule Whisperer to assist in making this decision.
